Covid QLD: Daily Updates on Cases, Tests and Positivity Rate Compared to Previous Outbreaks

Last Updated: 2021-04-02

This post will be regularly updated with data on the recent Covid-19 outbreak in Australia mapped against the earlier outbreaks.

Methodology

To produce these plots, I have mapped the current outbreaks in QLD against the recent outbreaks in NSW and VIC.

As a result, the x-axis in these plots does not show “Date” but instead it is the number of days since the first case of outbreak was reported. I have also added a week of observations from the period before each outbreak so you can better follow the impact of each outbreak on the trends.

You can remove a specific state from the plot by clicking on their name in the legend area. You can also save the plot as an image or download the data using the icon at the top right corner of the plot.

Covid-19 Testing Patterns

The first plot shows the number of tests per 1M of population in each outbreak.

Covid-19 Cases after removing HQ

The second plot shows the number of cases but only includes the cases of community transmission.

Covid-19 Positivity Rate after removing HQ

The last plot presents the positivity rate which is based on the number of positive tests (daily cases) out of total tests reported on each day.
